Helping victims become victorious!
At the age of thirty-five, KaShanta was diagnosed with HER2 Triple Negative breast cancer, a rare super aggressive disease known to afflict a higher percentage of African American women than any other ethnicity.
Her Vision:
To educate women about this debilitating disease and to assist the victims monetarily in the fight against cancer.
KaShanta served her country as a soldier in the United States Army and graduated at the top of her class as a helicopter mechanic - one of two females in a class of thirty. While on duty in Korea, she supervised a hospital unit. In 1999, she received an honorable discharge.
Other Experience:
She was a class manager at Healing Touch, an international company.
She acquired a real estate license, owned a house cleaning business and was a supervisor/trainer at Harlan Clarke's corporate office, where she received numerous awards and honor for frequently being the employee of the month.
KaShanta was an honor student and tied for homecoming queen at Northeast High School in Meridian, Mississippi in 1995. She received a coveted award from the NHGA. In honor of her accomplishments, her biography was published in the United States Achievement Academy National Awards Yearbook.
In 1991, she won a poetry contest. The poem was published in the National Library of Poetry. Since that time, she won numerous writing competitions to include children's stories.
She participated in chorus concerts during her school years and as a song leader on the Praise and Worship Team at church. She began writing songs at the age of eleven because she was bored. Later she taught herself to play the music to her songs on the keyboard.
KaShanta was a qualified black belt in Tae Kwon Do Ji Do Kwan and was a champion fighter and competitor in katas and weapons on the tournament circuit in Oklahoma and Mississippi. She held many first-place trophies.
At fourteen, she won most photogenic in the Cinderella Pageant.
Her favorite hobby was reading.
Two beautiful daughters were born from her marriage union: Ashlynn and Amiyah.
She had a very generous heart with a special affinity for feeding programs.
Her ashes were laid to rest at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma on June 26, 2015.
